Join us in Wenatchee!
WABE’s ELL and Secondary Special Interest Groups are pleased to announce the Fall Institute in Wenatchee, WA focused on our many special populations. It is an honor to serve students and families from all over the world who come with a diversity of experiences and who add richness to our classrooms. With this richness comes a complexity that challenges us to learn new skills and practices in order to meet their unique needs. The WABE Fall Institute is dedicated to our newcomers, SIFE students, students who have experienced trauma, who are unaccompanied, who are dealing with immigration challenges, and those who are dual served in Special Education and ELL. Come to share, learn, and collaborate with others who are working to serve our diverse learners. Explore the details below, get approved by your district and register for one day or both days.

I live and teach in Spokane, Washington. As an English language learning educator, I am the first teacher for refugee and immigrant students at Joel E. Ferris High School in the Newcomer Center. The Newcomer Center is a specialized English language development program for brand new immigrant and refugee students to our nation, who have limited English language proficiency.
My passion is making connections with my students and their families, and taking those connections out into the school and into the Spokane community. I strive to ensure my students feel welcome, wanted, and loved, and work to instill in them the belief that they are worthy of every success and happiness they dream of in life.
I urge all those I encounter to be fearless, to be kind, and to build relationships rather than fences. Join me in my journey toward fearlessness and hope.
