- Cultivate educational environments that affirm and celebrate students’ cultural and linguistic identities.
- Promote rigorous, accessible instruction that integrates content, language, and literacy through intentional collaboration and amplify the voices and experiences of multilingual students, educators, and families.
- Broaden educational opportunities for bilingual programs.
Members of WABE
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Washington Association for Bilingual Education! WABE membership is included with any Annual Conference registration. If you are registered for the upcoming Annual Conference, you are already a member for the next year. A membership year is from one Annual Conference to the next, regardless of when membership was gained.
If you are unable to attend one of the three events but would like to be a WABE member, please click the link below to provide your information and pay the $40 membership fee.
Your membership fee includes:
Membership through the next Annual Conference following payment.
Voting privileges for the next annual election following payment.
Ability to run for the WABE Board of Directors in the next annual election following payment.

Seat One Representatives are elected during odd numbered years, while Seat Two Representatives are elected during even numbered years. Unless otherwise noted, an officer’s term of office will be two years. The term of office begins on July 1 of the elected year. Nominations will be announced no later than two weeks before the Annual Conference and again at the Annual Conference. Officers will serve until the conclusion of their term of office, at which point they will turn over their responsibilities to the newly elected officers.

2026 Regional Representatives Nomination
We are accepting nominations for Regional Representatives on the WABE Board of Directors for 2026. Terms are for two years.
Regional Representatives will be expected to attend three WABE Board Meetings, assist in planning and attending the WABE Annual Conference and one WABE Institute, as well as serving on special committees during the year.

There are two seats in each of the four regions across the state. This year Seat Two is open in all regions. You must live or work in the region for which you are running.
