Participation requested! Vetting national standards for Washington endorsement competencies

By Uncategorized

Washington State is currently in the process of transitioning from state standards to national standards in the following endorsement competencies: Agricultural Education, Bilingual Education, Family and Consumer Sciences and World Languages.  Our board members value educators’ voices and we’d like to hear your input on these national standards.

We would like to invite you to participate in our online survey and provide feedback on the national standards currently under consideration.

The goal of this survey is to provide feedback on the national standards for teacher preparation programs to the board. The survey period will be from March 29 through April 25 and the survey closes on Sunday, April 25. The vetting process will be conducted via the surveys (one for each set of standards). A side-by-side comparison chart between current Washington state standards and proposed national standards, as well as other resources provided on our webpage.

Background

Endorsement standards are used by programs who are offering the related endorsement areas to pre-service or in-service teachers first seeking to obtain their endorsements. Additionally, the content knowledge assessments required to obtain an endorsement are based on the adopted endorsement standards.

Endorsement standards do not directly impact classroom instructions for in-service teachers. Additionally, endorsement standards are not student learning standards.
